I am not flexible and I don't stand on my head. Is yoga for me?
Absolutely! Yoga is not a posture. It is a union of your mind/body/spirit. Postures are only offered or suggested to help you find that connection. Practices here are designed to be accessible. If something doesn’t feel right, skip or modify. Yoga should never hurt!
What is the difference between yoga and yoga therapy?
Yoga is a holistic practice that combines physical postures, breath control, meditation, and ethical principles to promote overall well-being. It is often taught in group settings and focuses on enhancing flexibility, strength, and mental clarity.
Yoga Therapy, on the other hand, is a personalized approach that uses yogic techniques to address specific health concerns or conditions. A trained yoga therapist tailors the practice to an individual's needs, considering their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It can be a complementary approach to conventional healthcare, offering therapeutic benefits for various health challenges.
I have a medical condition. Is yoga safe?
Please check with your doctor about movements unsafe for YOU. Practices taught here are offered gently and explained with thoughtfulness whenever possible. But anyone can get hurt in yoga just like any other physical movement. When I get hurt, it is usually vacuuming. lol. A general rule to follow is to avoid manipulating areas in your body that are recovering from injury unless your doctor has said it is time to add some gentle movement there. Never push through pain in yoga. And research your medical condition/ask your doctor about activities you shouldn't be doing. You can also email me directly and we can discuss. This includes women who are pregnant. Please reach out.
